Create a friendship with yourself, have fair and clear boundaries, do (more of) what you love and do it daily.
You to set the goals you wish to work on and You get to evaluate how well you are moving through those. I provide plenty of feedback on the way. I consider myself a sounding board but also a collaborator. You are a very active participant in the process. You set the pace and frequency of the sessions. I prompt, cheer you on and/or challenge parts of you that get stuck. I watch your feedback and act on it - which means knowing when to help you over the edge vs. when you need processing time. Oh yes, one more thing - nurturing what we are good at it super important so I try to cultivate that in myself as much as I do with you. As such, when you present with issues I do not work with - I happily refer on or suggest someone who is able to assist you.
I completed my Honours with First Class in 2003 and my 2-year internship at the Adult Community Mental Health. Later I also took up roles with Child & Youth Mental Health, Mirikai Gold Coast Drug Council, GC Project for Homeless Youth and Griffith University Suicide Prevention. I worked in the Employment services across both Brisbane and the Gold Coast for several years. Following that, I took up Private Practice in 2008, initially operating from Medical Centres in Robina, Southport and Bundall. I opened up my own Clinic at Varsity Lakes in 2011, housing 7 Practitioners. I have been exclusively an Online Therapist since Aug 2018 and enjoy working with Clients across a number of time zones. I am particularly honored to have clients trust me and return after years later with different concerns .I am an avid student of Psychotherapy.
Psychologists are trained to use primarily Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In addition to those, I use the principles and techniques of/ have trained in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Motivational Interviewing, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), Hypnosis, Timeline Therapy (TLT), strategic (family) therapy and Process-oriented psychotherapy. I use a combination of these approaches to tailor treatments for clients based on what they are looking to get out of their sessions. I use what my experience has shown me to work and what matches the needs of a client in front of me.
