Evidence-based therapy
Psychologists study and train for years. One of the things psychologists in academia and research do is investigate the effectiveness of various types of treatments. This is important for us and our clients as it helps make our practice evidence-based. The methods we use have been trialled, tested and investigated many times over so we know that they work for various types of mental health presentations. By using heavily tested and effective approaches like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for instance, we are providing you with the best quality care. There is no guesswork and you can be assured that you are receiving the best quality treatment for the concern you are presenting with. Evidence-based psychotherapy is used for treatment of diagnosed mental health conditions inculding anxiety disorders, depression and mood disorders, sleep disorders, addictions and so on.

Counselling
Even though counselling essentially, is a practice of listening to, tending to and supporting clients (which is what will happen during evidence-based psychotherapy also), it is a less structured approach. Counsellors generally do not undertake training and study as exyensive as that of psychologists. As such, the field of counselling is different in that one does not need to suffer from a mental health condition in order to receive it. Counselling is a professional guidance process whereby one's personal conflicts and emotional struggles are worked on & processed. You can seek counselling when you are struggling with your partner or when a family member is causing you grief.

Life Coaching & Personal Development
This field of work is different to the two above in that clients are seeking support in reaching their full potential. Effectively, there is no diagnosed mental health condition, chronic mental illness or a significant issue to be resolved - one is simply needing support in navigating to being the best they can be. This can apply to their worklife, family life and sense of greater contribution to their community. With life coaching and personal development, we are seeking fulfillment and reaching our highest potential and not struggling with basic day-to-day functioning (which can very much be the case for people diagnosed with a mental illness).

Process Oriented Psychology (POP)
This approach was developed in 1969 by Dr Arnold Mindell as an extension of Jungian therapy in combination with other frameworks including Gestalt, NLP, psychodrama, Taoism and modern physics. This approach offers a new and innovative way of working with human condition, be it on an individual or group level.
When utilising POP framework with a therapist, a client can expect an attitude of curiosity, collaborative discovery of client's process and an underpinning notion that there is coherence and value in our everyday disturbances, body symptoms and night-time dreams. This approach is non-prescriptive and the client is supported to explore and unfold their emotional and physical symptoms in order to uncover what drives those in the first place. POP is theoretically rich and deep yet profoundly simple and often beautifully practical.
