Many situations in life call for a compromise. We are taught to create win-win situations as much as we can. That’s what it is all about, right? Express your needs, get others to express theirs and create a solution that will help you both meet your needs to some degree.....
Easier said than done. Where do we draw the line? When do we say ‘I do not want to stand for this?’, ‘This is not OK for me’ or ‘I’m done’???
What is coming back up time and time again, in your experience – is what you have allowed on some level. So what to do? Ride out the anxiety, fear of conflict or the other persons assumed feelings about it& address the issue! This is especially the case with those sensitive topics in life which cause discomfort and we would rather avoid. Address them as early as they pop up......because what you ignore, sweep under the carpet, avoid and deny – is still there & very much present. Like an elephant in the room. And it ALWAYS stays there (and affects you, and others involved) until you do something about
it. Don’t stand for what is not OK for you. Speak up today.
