Today I decided I would start a gratitude diary. Research indicates that people that take time out of their day to consciously acknowledge what they are grateful for report a greater sense of life satisfaction, and if you take it a step further than thinking and write it down the benefits start to sky rocket. I know this is the case but thought I would take a 21 day challenge just to remind myself of the benefits of appreciation.
So I joined the Gratitude Challenge a 21 day journey designed to help you acknowledge and appreciate those things that are REALLY important in your life. It is simple and EASY- just download the calendar and sign the pledge....
"With a hopeful outlook, I, EMMA BOUCHER, promise to fulfil the terms of The Gratitude Challenge. Over the next 21 days, I pledge to complete the activities on my gratitude calendar, including writing journal entries, taking photos and connecting with friends. I promise to take note of life’s little blessings and to give thanks for the relationships, experiences and opportunities that make my life unique. From this day forward, I commit to living on the brighter side of life. "
Ok so I am committed for the next 21 days to really making gratitude a part of my everyday life. Already I have noticed a difference- a car pulled out in front of me, my initial reaction was that of surprise and frustration, I then took a breath and said to myself, I am grateful to that driver for reminding me how important it is to be attentive on the roads. Even in my yoga class I was struggling with a forearm balance when I stopped took a breath and said to myself, “I am grateful for my arms that allow me to do so many amazing things”I was then astounded at how easy it was to find the strength to complete the posture
So I ask... are you willing to complete the challenge with me????
Keep on smiling there sunshine
Emma =)
